Evaluation & Appraisal Fees

Whether you’re looking to assess the value of a single firearm or an entire collection, our knowledgeable team is here to guide you through the process with expertise, precision, and care.
Evaluation Percentage Descriptions
- New/Perfect: 100% condition with/without box. 100% of currently manufactured firearms assume NIB (New In Box) condition and have not sold previously at retail.
- Mint: no less than 99% condition with almost no observable wear. Can also include guns sold previously at retail, which may have only been shot occasionally.
- Excellent: 95%+ – 98%
- Very Good: 80% – 95% condition (all parts/finish must be original).
- Good: 60% – 80% condition (all parts/finish must be original).
- Fair: 20% – 60% condition (all parts/finish may or may not be original but must function properly and shoot).
- Poor: under 20% condition (shooting not a factor).
Every gun’s unique condition factor – therefore the price – is best determined by the percentage of “original” finish(es) remaining, with key consideration of the overall frame/receiver finish. If anyone other than the factory has refinished the gun, its value as a collector’s item can be diminished. The exceptions would be rare and historical guns that have been professionally restored.
Appraisal Fees for Services
- CSA Guns performs several main types of gun appraisals: Collectables and War Relics
- Purchase of Collection appraisal fee – $50.00 per hour
- Fair market appraisals estimate the collection’s value if sold on the open market.
- *If CSA Guns purchases the collection, this fee is waived.
- Fair market appraisals estimate the collection’s value if sold on the open market.
Insurance or Estate appraisal fee – $60.00 per gun
- Insurance appraisals assess how much it would cost to replace a collection in the case of a natural disaster, fire, or theft.
- This appraisal is for anyone looking to insure the guns they have inherited or self-purchased with the plan to keep them.
- *Includes a signed letter from CSA Guns
- $60 Deposit required
Historical sufficiency appraisal fee – $80-$250+ per hour
- Fair market appraisals estimate the collection’s value if sold on the open market.
- Historical appraisals assess how much it would cost to replace a collection in the case of a natural disaster, fire, or theft.
- This appraisal is for anyone looking to insure the guns they have inherited or self-purchased with the plan to keep them.
- *Includes a Factory Authentication letter if possible
- $80 Deposit required
