At Carolina Sporting Arms, our guides know your biggest challenge is getting started. The Home Defense Shotgun Class makes getting started easy. We have helped hundreds of people progress from never shooting a gun before to becoming comfortable, skilled, defensive shooters. CSA wants you to be prepared, and to feel safe. We’re confident you will thrive from our guided educational opportunities and feel empowered by the experiences provided.
Home Defense Shotgun is a classroom and range-based orientation that builds your training foundation. It is approximately 3 hours long.
*No live ammo allowed in the classroom
During the Home Defense Shogun Class, you will receive formal exposure to:
- Safe gun handling, safety rules, and guidelines
- The different shotgun types and why you would prefer one over the other
- Proper shotgun grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, and other fundamentals
- Popular terms used in shooting sports and basic functions of a shotgun
- How to safely load and unload a shotgun
- Live-fire shooting fundamentals
The program provides you with a comprehensive introduction to shooting a shotgun by certified instructors that includes:
- Firearm safety
- Local ownership requirements
- Shooting fundamentals
- Hands-on instruction
- How and where to continue training with your next class
What is the event about/What will you learn
In this course, we will be going over the following points:
- Safety
- Proper Grip
- Stance
- Sight Alignment
- Sight Picture
- Trigger Control
- Shotgun-Specific Nomenclature
- Proper Loading and Unloading
- Different Ammunition and Upgrades
Prerequisite
- Complete and Sign the Liability Waiver Agreement
- Watch the CSA safety video before being permitted to shoot
- Photo ID is required to shoot on the range.
*If you have not fired a firearm before, we recommend you take one of our introductory classes: Give It A Shot, or First Shots Classes, before joining an Action Shooting Match Event.
