Range Rules

•  Use of alcoholic beverages or performance-altering drugs prior to or during shooting is prohibited.
•  When carrying a firearm anywhere in this facility it must be unloaded and should be cased, except for Law Enforcement and valid Concealed Carry Handgun License holders.
•  When not cased, handguns, rifles, and shotguns must be carried with actions open in the muzzle down position. Detachable magazines should be removed and magazine tubes remain unloaded. A chamber safety flag will be displayed in every firearm until at one’s shooting station.
•  For everyone’s safety, range commands issued by any Carolina Sporting Arms Associate require instant compliance.

At all times follow the 5 Firearm Range Safety Rules.

  1. Handle all firearms as if they are loaded.
  2. Only load and unload your firearm in the shooting stall and always keep the firearm pointed down range.
  3. Keep your finger out of the gun’s trigger guard and off the trigger until you have aligned the gun’s sights on a safe target and you have made the decision to fire.
  4. Always be certain that your target and the surrounding area are safe before firing. Only shoot your target and never shoot at your neighbors’ targets.
  5. If you have trouble with your firearm, keep it pointed downrange, place firearm on shooting stall shelf and ask for a Carolina Sporting Arms Range Safety Officer.

•  Make sure that you know how your firearm works, that it is safe to operate, and that you use only the correct caliber/gauge ammunition as specified on the firearm. If unsure, ask for assistance.
•  Eye and HARD SHELL ear protection must be in place before entering the range and worn at all times when in the range.
•  When shooting:

  1. Keep your firearm unloaded (or holstered for LE/CCH) until at your shooting station, on the firing line, and facing down range.
  2. Keep your loaded firearm pointed down range and toward the backstop at all times when at your shooting station.
  3. Sharing a shooting station is acceptable, but only one shooter may shoot at a time.
  4. Never hand someone a loaded firearm.
  5. Never leave your firearm unattended.
  6. Do not move, reach, or extend anything forward of the shooting stall.
  7. Leave your firearm on the shooting station bench, unloaded with the bolt/slide/cylinder open and pointed down range when not handling your firearm. Do not stand long guns against the shooting station. Please re-case (or holster for LE/CCH) before leaving the shooting station.
  8. Do not move from the shooting station if you experience a jam, stoppage, or other malfunction. Keep your finger off the trigger and keep the firearm pointed down range for a minimum of 30 seconds. After 30 seconds clear the firearm. If you need assistance clearing the firearm, place it on the shooting station bench, then wave your hand and/or call out for a Range Officer.
  9. Picking up your brass is allowed as long as it does not interfere with other shooters. You may not retrieve other’s brass or brass forward of your shooting station. All rules still apply.

•  Do not clean your firearm while in the range.
•  ALL ammunition must be jacketed. No armor piercing, steel tip, steel core, steel shot, bird shot, BBs, buck shot, tracer, incendiary, gas, or explosive ammunition is allowed in the range.
•  Steel-cased ammo is not allowed in the range.
•  Shooters will be charged for all damages to the range caused by their errant shots.
•  Drawing from a holster, use of a sling, or any type of transition is only allowed upon completion of the appropriate qualification course.
•  Due to possible lead exposure, women who are pregnant or could potentially be pregnant are not allowed in the range.
•  No food or beverage is allowed in the range. Shooting, cleaning firearms, and handling ammunition may result in exposure to lead. Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap after exposure and prior to consuming food, beverages, or smoking.
